Our Approach is Different

Problem: China dominates the rare earth supply chain.

Solution: StrategicREM partnerships with Malaysian entities and U.S. allies.

Verification of Malaysian rare earth deposits in progress:

  • We are the only foreign entity (government, corporate, or private) that has traveled to rural mining sites with potential rare earth deposits in Northern Malaysia.
  • We will soon have the most accurate and reliable data regarding the REE potential in Malaysia that is traceable and verifiable by any party.

The collaboration between StrategicREM and its Malaysian partners is intended to support the development of a secure, resilient, and diversified rare earth supply chain outside China, helping meet growing global demand for critical minerals used in advanced manufacturing, defense, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, robotics, electric vehicles, aerospace, and clean energy technologies.

Under the proposed development strategy, Rare Earth Concentrate (REC) produced in Malaysia will be processed into Mixed Rare Earth Oxides (Mixed REO) at a new facility in Malaysia. Mixed REO will then be supplied to a planned rare earth separation facility in the United States, where individual light and heavy rare earth oxides will be refined into high-purity products for strategic industrial and commercial applications.

The initiative is expected to:

  • Establish a diversified rare earth supply chain outside China.
  • Increase value-added processing and exports from Malaysia.
  • Support advanced manufacturing and high-skilled employment in both countries.
  • Strengthen resilient supply chains for aerospace, defense, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, robotics, electric vehicles, and clean energy.
  • Promote long-term economic cooperation between Malaysia and the United States.

The project aligns with broader international efforts to diversify critical mineral supply chains through trusted partnerships and responsible resource development, contributing to greater economic resilience and supply chain security. “This partnership is about much more than mining,” said Dan Uhm, President and Co-Founder of StrategicREM. “Our objective is to build a complete, sustainable, and trusted rare earth supply chain spanning resource development, processing, separation, and advanced manufacturing. By combining Malaysia’s resource potential with U.S. technology and industrial capabilities, we are creating a strategic partnership designed to strengthen supply chain resilience, support American manufacturing, enhance national security, and promote long-term economic growth for both the United States and Malaysia.”

A spokesperson for Greensnow Consolidated Berhad added:

“This collaboration reflects our commitment to responsibly developing Malaysia’s rare earth resources while creating higher-value processing capabilities, attracting international investment, generating skilled employment and strengthening Malaysia’s position in the global critical minerals industry.”

The MoU marks the first step in a phased development program that includes independent resource verification, engineering and feasibility studies, project financing, permitting, construction of a Mixed REO processing facility in Malaysia, and development of a U.S.-based rare earth separation facility. Subject to successful technical validation, financing, regulatory approvals and definitive agreements, the parties intend to establish a long-term, internationally competitive rare earth supply chain serving the United States, Malaysia, and allied markets.

About NICE REE Sdn. Bhd:

NICE REE Sdn. Bhd. is a Malaysian rare earth development company focused on the exploration, commercialization, and downstream processing of rare earth resources through strategic international partnerships.

Rare Earth Extraction via In-Situ Leaching

How it works:

  1. Injection wells are drilled and a mild, environmentally friendly leaching solution is pumped underground.
  2. The rare earth bearing solution is pumped back to the surface through recovery wells.
  3. Rare earth elements are extracted from the solution in a processing plant.

Advantages:

  1. Lower mining costs.
  2. Low water use (closed loop system).
  3. Minimal surface disturbance - no large open pits.

No Chinese Technology, IP, or Equipment Needed!

Is our Malaysian partner’s rare earth separation technology dependent on Chinese technology and equipment?

No. The proposed separation process is based on internationally established hydrometallurgical principles that have been successfully implemented in rare earth processing facilities across Australia, Japan, Europe, and the United States. The core process steps including dissolution, impurity removal, solvent extraction, selective precipitation and calcination, are widely recognized chemical engineering processes and are not proprietary to China. The process has been optimized for Malaysian Ion Adsorption Clay (IAC) rare earth resources.

The proposed processing facility will be designed, engineered, and constructed using equipment sourced from U.S. allied countries outside of China. Major process equipment includes solvent extraction mixer-settlers, reactors, filtration systems, pumps, piping systems, process control instrumentation, dryers, calcination kilns, and chemical handling systems is commercially available from manufacturers in Japan, Germany, Australia, the United States, South Korea, and Malaysia.

World's First Low Carbon Rare Earth Processing Facility

Our plan is to be the first rare earth project to incorporate environmentally friendly low carbon concrete to construct the processing facilities in Malaysia and the U.S.
